Oakland County Sheriffs' Officers receive Cultural Competncy Training.
Oakland County demonstrates a commitment to diversity by investing in Cultural Competency education, not only for its administrative staff, but also for law enforcement. Oakland County has collaborated with the Michigan Roundtable to prepare county employees to better serve a changing demographic region. We have been providing periodic sessions for County Administrative Staff since 2006, which have been conducted to raise awareness of how our beliefs about people can impact our business and personal interactions. In 2011, the Michigan Roundtable also provided sessions for the Oakland County Sheriff's Office to accomplish similar objectives. In both sessions, it is emphasized that the way we relate to others can negatively or positively impact personal and or community outcomes.
Focusing on Diversity, Inclusion, and Cultural Competency and assisting employees to be more culturally sensitive to community residents, the sessions are interactive and engaging and provide practical tools for daily application.
Oakland County continues to invest in growing the community and working to promote and sustain a county that is welcoming for all.
