Leadership
In the New Century, LINC,
is Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion’s comprehensive series of diversity education programs
designed to empower school leaders to create school communities
where everyone feels safe, respected and included. Participants
gain an increased awareness of and appreciation for individual differences,
knowledge of diversity issues and skills to address those issues.
These programs offer learning experiences to develop and expand
people's understanding of religious, racial, ethnic and other cultural
diversity. There are currently over 50 schools in metro Detroit
participating in LINC.
Commitment To Change,
(CTC) Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion’s school based program provides educational
programming, training, and support to metropolitan Detroit school
teams comprised of student leaders, staff and administrators. These
teams develop the leadership skills necessary for driving systems’
change in their schools and building more inclusive and safer school
communities. As well as individually designed staff training and
workshops Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion provides comprehensive district and school wide diversity
initiatives working with steering committees to develop policies,
procedures and programs that build and support a school culture
of safety, respect and inclusion for all.
LINC Leadership Institute
This innovative, Skillman Foundation funded teacher training initiative
aims to improve student academic performance by developing diversity
skills, knowledge, and attitudes of school staff in order to provide
youth with opportunities to improve problem solving skills that
will transfer to core academic areas and social development.
Goals:
- Improve the skills of faculty for integrating
diversity education into curriculum and aligning that curriculum
with Michigan Curriculum Framework standards and benchmarks.
- Improve the ability of faculty to utilize
service learning as a tool for enhanced learning and establishing
a broader context for diversity awareness by engaging schools,
youth and community together in building more inclusive and
safe school communities. Learn

LINC Youth Leadership
Program is a developmental series of activities aimed at
empowering student leaders to create change in their school communities.

introductory level, gaining exposure to issues of diversity; to
an intermediate level, building the skills to address those issues;
to an advanced level, leading programming in their schools and communities.
LINC PROGRAM SERIES
LINC STUDENT LEADER
- News, resources and activities for students and advisors.
Students participating in
the LINC program will now have the opportunity to become certified
as LINC Student Leaders while earning Community Service hours that
are required for graduation. Students will become certified by earning
service hours in categories such as cultural awareness, skill-building
and project planning while participating in LINC events.
Students will receive recognition
for the hours they have earned at the LINC Connections Conference
in the spring. Students who become certified LINC Leaders will also
be eligible to win one of our scholarships based on their participation
in the program and a written reflection. Teams of students and their
advisors attend the retreat to begin identifying the issues they
would like to work on in their respective high schools over the
next school year.
