Anytown is a week-long program designed
to help youth explore their own identities and biases and
learn the value of creating an inclusive society.
This one-week residential camp involves being a part of
a unique community of 60 high school sophomores, juniors,
and seniors who come from different racial, ethnic, religious,
and socioeconomic backgrounds. Anytown adult advisors consist
of role models such as teachers, clergy, business professionals,
and law enforcement officers who offer students a well-rounded
view of reality. Young adult counselors, who have Anytown
training, live with the students giving personal guidance,
understanding, and direction throughout the week. Students
learn the necessary skills needed to begin solving individual
and group conflicts in their schools and communities through
discussion groups, activities, and workshops. The Anytown
USA experience will change perceptions about the walls that
divide us and the ties that bring us together.
Anytown 2006 is scheduled for June, location to be announced.
