Crosstown Weekend Diversity Experiences
November 2-4, 2004 and November 9-11, 2005

Register for Crosstown

Crosstown is a two day leadership retreat based on the Anytown model. Each fall, schools are invited to send a team of 8–12 students and 1–2 advisors from a school group working on issues of diversity, human relations or cross cultural communications.

At Crosstown, students have an opportunity to:
  • Examine their personal attitudes towards people from different backgrounds, belief systems, races and cultures;

  • Increase exposure and communication with students and teachers from other schools, geographical areas, belief systems, ethnic groups and cultures;

  • Develop and enhance skills in the areas of communication, consensus building, leadership development, goal achievement and decision making;

  • Begin an assessment process of the human relations' climate within their school communities. Identify and prioritize issues and plan a diversity related service project to create more safe, respectful, and inclusive school communities;

  • Develop a sense of unity among a team of students;

  • Increase confidence in their ability to make a difference in their lives, school and community.
Space is limited to 100 participants. Early registration is advised. For a registration packet, more information on the Crosstown Youth Leadership Retreat, or any other LINC youth programs, please contact LINC Youth Program Coordinator Craig Anderson at the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion, (313) 870-1500.
