LINC Connection Conference

(Formerly Rearing Children of Goodwill Conference)

March 29, 2007

This annual spring conference involves over 400 high school students from the metro Detroit area and their teachers. Student participate in idea-sharing and small-group dialogue with students from other schools. Student teams give service learning project presentations increasing awareness, understanding, and respect for diversity issues. Previous LINC program participants are given an opportunity to practice their leadership skills by serving as facilitators for youth dialogue.

Dialogue

Student participation at the conference is focused on roundtable dialogue. The purpose of the dialogue is to communicate so that each person understands the other's thoughts and feelings about a specific topic. Dialogue is not informal conversation, although it is important to create a relaxed atmosphere. It has a purpose that allows the exploration of new approaches to problems.

For more information on the LINC Connection Conference or any other LINC youth programs, please contact LINC Program Coordinator Deborah Williamson or Craig Anderson at the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion, (313) 870-1500.
