PROGRAM STRATEGIES

Anti Profiling Coalition

Profiling is a hot issue that attracts intense interest. Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion, the NAACP and the ACLU are working collaboratively to ensure support for community conferences that will train local law enforcement to reduce the profiling that occurs because e of race, gender, religious affiliation and other cultural differences. These conferences will also educate the public about their rights and responsibilities. Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion facilitates the ALPACT Leadership Coalition, which is making real progress on this issue and has been recognized by these stakeholders for playing a major role in helping to resolve this critically important issue in our community

BIC

The overall goal of the BIC initiative is to provide an organization, through a team of empowered leaders, the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve inclusion. The underlying philosophy of BIC is to connect participants' learning to practical application and their organizations' success. Building Inclusive Communities, prepares participants to effect systems change through a variety of educational opportunities. These include interpersonal change experiences, cultural competence education, and organizational change skills. Participants will learn to understand and use basic communication and group intervention skills as well as organizational development methods to produce systems change.

Trading Places

This program incorporates a series of small group dialogues about the human relations barriers that sometimes confound our best efforts to understand one another and live and work better together. Each series consists of three, three hour sessions led by a trained facilitator who guides a diverse group of participants in a non confrontational discussion of religious, ethnic and racial issues. These dialogues give people from different backgrounds the opportunity to see and understand that pieces of the human experience are common to us all. more >>

Diversity Training

One of Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion's greatest skills is the ability to facilitate groups. Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion's diversity training and consulting offers programs and tools to help corporations, local and regional municipalities, school districts, civic organizations and small businesses achieve an understanding of various human relations issues including racism, religious discrimination and other cultural biases.

LINC

Leadership In the New Century is Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion's comprehensive series of youth activities. These programs offer learning experiences to develop and expand young people's understanding of religious, racial, ethnic and cultural diversity and their ability to function effectively in a pluralistic society. more >>

The Interfaith Partners

Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion's hallmark program has historic roots in the metropolitan faith community. Trialog programs with Muslims, Christians and Jews provide an opportunity for scholars, clergy and lay leaders to gain a greater awareness of and respect for different religious traditions.
